Vechoor Church (St. Mary's Church)
Vechoor Church (St. Mary's Church), located in Vechoor Grama Panchayat, is one of the ancient Marian pilgrimage centres in southern Kerala. Dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of God, the church is situated about 10 kilometres south of Vaikom in Kottayam District, on the banks of Vembanad Lake, near the Thanneermukkom–Vechoor Bund and Kumarakom.
Devotees affectionately and reverently refer to the Blessed Mother as “Vechoor Muthy”.
